I wasn't sure if I was going to like Still Alice, it had that smell of being a great award-winning performance in a fairly average film. Thankfully this is much more than just a great performance. If anything, because Moore is one of those actresses I take for granted and just expect to be great, I didn't particularly notice her subtle performance until the earlier an earlier video message is played back. The thing I liked the most about the film is not how it handled Alice's illness but how the family handled Alice. In particular it's the relationship with the youngest daughter played by Kristen Stewart that really stands out and provides the real heart of the film.
